Peter Whiteman commenced at Thomas Davis & Co on 6th of February 1963, having completed his schooling at Cleveland Street Boys High School in Sydney.
Having completed his professional studies, Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was admitted to the Institute on 1st of March 1972 and granted the degree of a Fellow of the Institute on 10th of April 1978.
He was appointed a Partner of the Firm in 1975 and has been the Managing Partner for the last eleven years until his recent retirement on 30th June 2013.
For more than 10 years from 1975, Peter managed the Melbourne Office of the Firm, which at its peak had two Partners and eight staff. Around the time Thomas Davis & Co joined MSI Global Alliance and with other changes in Melbourne it was decided to close the Melbourne Office and Peter re-located to Sydney. This also resulted in our close association with MSI Ragg Weir, which continues today.
Most of Peter’s career has been focused on auditing with a major focus on fashion wholesale and retail, manufacturing, investment trusts and property management, Public Companies and cultural organisations. For many years Peter has taken a lead role in the Firms quality control program, closely monitoring adherence to Accounting Standards. He is also well experienced in taxation matters and is a Chartered Tax Advisor with the Taxation Institute of Australia.
For many years, Peter has been Thomas Davis & Co’s key contact point with MSI Global Alliance enjoying the many ANZ, Asian and World conferences he was able to attend and has valued the fellowship and relationships he has made with many MSI members across Australia and the world.
Recently Peter was appointed a Director of a major city sporting club, is involved in its sponsorship programs and is a member of the audit risk committee. He is looking forward to making a greater contribution to the club in the future.
As with previous retiring Thomas Davis & Co partners, Peter will remain with the firm as a consultant, which we hope will continue for many years.
Thomas Davis & Co honoured Peter with a retirement dinner in August 2013 when the partners and consultants thanked him for his career long dedication to the firm and his clients.
